Mary Pickford was a American motion picture actress, co-founder of United Artists film studios and one of the original 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Known as “America’s Sweetheart” she was one of the pioneers of early Hollywood and a significant figure in the development of film acting. The cocktail was created in the 1920’s by barman Fred Kaufman at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, for the silent film star, when she was in Havana filming a movie.
